black iron skillet.
My Aunt Dean used to say, “I figured during my 18 years at home, there were approximately 468 Sunday chicken dinners.” My Grandmother had ten children and a lot of her time was spent cooking. My grandmother canned foods, picked blackberries, gathered eggs, and made 36 biscuits every morning. She was a kind, generous person, feeding family, friends, neighbors and hobos in need.
The 31iron skillets represent the monumental amount of cooking she did – the stories speak of Southern cooking and generosity.
